Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has taken strong action by suspending Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, the Emir of Daware, over serious allegations. Ja’afaru, who previously served as the district head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area, was removed after an investigation found him guilty of corruption, poor leadership, and endangering local security.
The suspension was formally announced through a letter dated April 25, 2025. The letter, signed by the Permanent Secretary for Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, was shared with the media on Sunday. It instructed the Emir to immediately hand over all government belongings to the district secretary while further steps are considered.
A part of the letter stated, “Following a series of complaints made against you for maladministration, corruption, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands and creating a vacuum that has led to all traditional issues remaining unattended, as a result of your non-staying in your domain, I am therefore directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to suspend you from office indefinitely. You are, therefore, requested to hand over all government properties in your possession to the district scribe pending further actions.”
Reports suggest that local complaints against Ja’afaru had been piling up over the past months. Residents accused him of mismanaging community affairs, ignoring security concerns, and illegally taking over farmlands belonging to the people. His absence from his domain worsened traditional administration, leaving many local issues unresolved.
Governor Fintiri, known for his tough stance against corruption, noted that his administration remains committed to fighting corruption across every level of government. He has often said that no one, no matter their position or status, will be spared in the battle against wrongdoing in the state.
