The African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition has announced a new location for the official launch of its political movement after an unexpected cancellation by the hotel initially chosen to host the event in Abuja.
The event, meant to introduce a coalition driven by opposition politicians, was earlier scheduled to take place at the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Abuja.
But with less than a day to go, the hotel management sent out a cancellation notice. According to the notice shared by Dele Momodu — a well-known media figure, politician, and coalition member — the hotel backed out due to an “internal compliance matter.”
The message posted by Momodu on Instagram stated:
“Dear Esteemed Patron, Thank you once again for choosing the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments. We sincerely regret to inform you that due to what has just come to our attention, we are unable to proceed with hosting your scheduled event.
“We are fully aware that the event is less than 24 hours away, and we deeply apologise for the timing and inconvenience this may cause.”
This sudden development left many supporters and organizers surprised and forced the coalition to act quickly to find another location.
In response, the ADC coalition has now selected the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja as the new venue for the event. The new time for the unveiling remains 2:00 pm.
A statement from Nkem Ukandu, the party’s Deputy National Secretary, confirmed the change.
“Members of the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, BOT, and other key stakeholders and members are expected to attend.
“Please note that attendance is self-sponsored,” the statement read.
