Leading Nigerian airline Air Peace has dismissed claims circulating online about an alleged increase in its one-way fare from Lagos to Abuja to a staggering N200,000.
Recently, a social media post went viral, asserting that Air Peace would double its current one-way fare from N114,000 to N200,000, effective November 1, 2024. However, the airline has firmly clarified that these rumors are baseless.
The post included an image of Air Peace’s Chairman, Allen Onyema, alongside the unverified fare information. This quickly fueled public concerns over what would represent a 100% hike in airfare.
In response, Air Peace issued an official statement on Saturday, stressing that the rumors were completely false and did not come from any reliable source within the company.
Air Peace has reaffirmed its commitment to fair pricing policies, noting that no changes have been made to its fare structure for the Lagos-Abuja route. The airline condemned the viral post as misinformation, meant to create panic and confusion among travelers.
In its statement, Air Peace emphasized that it has no intention of doubling its fares and encouraged the public to rely only on official announcements from the company or verified news sources.
The statement read, “We would like to categorically state that this information is false and did not originate from Air Peace.
“We have not released any official statement regarding a fare increase as described, and any announcements regarding our pricing would only be made through our verified channels. We encourage our valued customers and clients to rely exclusively on these platforms for accurate updates and information on fares.”
