Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially signed the ₦955 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year into law. The signing ceremony was held at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo, just one week after the state legislature approved the budget.
The budget, referred to as the “Budget of Consolidation and Expansion,” outlines plans for growth and development in the state.
Governor Eno expressed gratitude to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for their speedy passage of the bill, emphasizing the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative branches of government.
“I urge us to continue working together to bring meaningful progress and democratic benefits to the people of Akwa Ibom,” the governor stated during the event.
The 2025 budget allocates ₦300 billion for recurrent expenditures and ₦655 billion for capital projects, reflecting a 3% increase from the revised ₦923.412 billion budget for 2024. The increase aims to address key development priorities and sustain ongoing projects across the state.
The budget was passed by the House on December 24, 2024, following the adoption of the report presented by the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance.
Present at the signing were key officials, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, members of the State Executive Council, and other legislators.
