Alex Iwobi’s Crucial Goal Leads Fulham to Victory Against Leicester

Alex Iwobi’s 70th-minute goal secured a 2-1 victory for Fulham over newly promoted Leicester City. The win marked Fulham’s first triumph of the 2024/25 Premier League season, bouncing back from their disappointing defeat to Manchester United the previous week.

Fulham came into the match eager to get points on the board after their narrow loss at Old Trafford. Marco Silva’s men were motivated to perform in front of their home crowd, and they did just that, despite a strong challenge from Leicester. The Foxes, on the other hand, were riding high after a hard-fought draw at King Power Stadium in their opening match.

The game got off to a slow start, but Fulham gradually took control and created several promising chances. The first breakthrough came when Adama Traore sliced through Leicester’s midfield with a driving run, before passing to Emile Smith Rowe. The former Arsenal star slotted home with his weaker foot, giving Fulham a 1-0 lead.

However, Leicester soon found an equalizer. In the 33rd minute, Wout Faes, left unmarked in the box, powerfully headed home from a Facundo Buonanotte corner, leveling the match at 1-1.

In the second half, Fulham pushed hard to regain the lead. Their efforts finally paid off in the 70th minute when Iwobi capitalized on a brilliant pass from Antonee Robinson. The Nigerian midfielder broke free and finished with his weaker foot, securing Fulham’s advantage.

Despite late pressure from Leicester, Fulham held on for a crucial win. Iwobi’s goal made the difference, although his overall performance was mixed. He struggled with possession and did not manage to complete a dribble. His teammate, Calvin Bassey, was also steady but unspectacular, contributing to Fulham’s ball progression.

Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi was a standout for the Foxes, delivering a solid performance with six duels won and three tackles.
