Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has addressed a digitally altered image of him that recently went viral on social media.
The image, which was created using artificial intelligence, depicted the renowned pastor dressed in traditional Islamic attire and appearing to be in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Pastor Adeboye spoke about the issue during the first Holy Ghost Night service of the year, held in the early hours of Saturday, January 4, as reported by Church Times Nigeria.
While addressing the congregation, the pastor acknowledged the widely circulated image, saying with a smile, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.”
The viral image first surfaced online in late December, quickly gaining attention for its convincing portrayal of the RCCG leader as a Muslim pilgrim.
In Islamic tradition, a man who completes the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca earns the title of “Alhaji,” while women are called “Alhaja.”
