Amad Diallo Shines as Man United Defeat Betis; Chelsea, Liverpool Also Triumph in Pre-Season Matches

Liverpool triumphed over Arsenal with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday, thanks to first-half goals from Mo Salah and Fabio Carvalho. The match, held at the home stadium of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, saw a crowd of 69,879 fans.

Salah opened the scoring early in the 13th minute. Harvey Elliott delivered a brilliant defense-splitting pass to Salah, who outpaced Arsenal’s defenders. Salah managed to shrug off the attention of Arsenal center-back Gabriel and fired a low left-footed shot past Arsenal’s goalkeeper, Karl Hein.

Liverpool’s second goal came in the 34th minute. Again, Elliott was the provider, delivering a perfectly lofted pass into the box. Carvalho, running onto the pass, executed a crisp right-foot volley through Hein’s legs, doubling Liverpool’s lead.

Arsenal responded in the 40th minute when Kai Havertz scored from close range after Martin Odegaard set him up in the six-yard box.

Despite this effort, Liverpool held on to their lead throughout a goalless second half, securing a win for their new Dutch manager, Arne Slot, who recently replaced Jurgen Klopp. Notably absent from Arsenal’s lineup was their newly signed Italian defender, Riccardo Calafiori.

Elsewhere in the United States, Chelsea delivered an impressive 3-0 victory against Mexico’s Club America in Atlanta. French striker Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring with a penalty in the third minute. Spanish teenager Marc Guiu added to the tally with a header in the 21st minute, and Noni Madueke sealed the win with another penalty in the 79th minute.

Manchester United also enjoyed success in their pre-season match against Real Betis in San Diego. Although Betis initially took the lead with a 15th-minute strike by Iker Losada, Manchester United quickly equalized through a Marcus Rashford penalty in the 18th minute after Romain Perraud fouled Amad Diallo in the box.

Diallo himself scored in the 24th minute, and Casemiro extended the lead in the 31st minute, making it 3-1 by halftime. Betis’ Diego Llorente managed to score a header in the 61st minute, but it wasn’t enough to catch up.

In another notable match, AC Milan secured a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in Chicago, thanks to Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze’s goal in the 55th minute.
