Anambra 2025: Soludo Wins APGA Primary Election Unopposed

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has officially secured the ticket to represent the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

Soludo, who is currently serving his first term in office, was the sole candidate in the party’s primary election. The internal voting exercise took place on Saturday in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State. Delegates from across the 21 local government areas gathered at the venue to cast their votes.

Despite being unchallenged, the governor received widespread backing from party members and delegates. He reportedly received over 300 delegate votes, confirming his position as the party’s standard-bearer for the 2025 governorship race.

The event was attended by key figures in the party including members of the APGA National Working Committee, state executives, and party loyalists. One party official described Soludo’s unopposed candidacy as “a reflection of the confidence the party has in his leadership.” The source continued, “Soludo has brought a new vision to governance in Anambra. His re-election bid is something we all believe in.”

Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, became governor of Anambra State in March 2022 after winning the 2021 election on the APGA platform. His administration has focused on infrastructure development, education reform, and security improvement across the state.

In a brief address following the declaration of the primary result, Soludo thanked party members for their trust and pledged to continue serving the state with integrity and purpose. “I am deeply grateful for your confidence in me. Together, we will keep building a better Anambra,” he said.
