The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a major step toward digital transformation by contracting a private firm, Tunmef Global Limited, to handle its nationwide electronic membership registration. The initiative aims to create an up-to-date database of party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The agreement with the contractor was officially signed at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday night. The event was attended by key party figures, including the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, alongside Cross River Governor Bassey Otu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo. Also present were APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the National Working Committee, and state party chairmen.
Speaking at the event, Uzodimma noted that the digital registration system reflects the party’s commitment to modernizing its internal processes. He stressed that the new system would ensure a more reliable and transparent membership database.
According to him, “We must thank Mr President, Bola Tinubu for the wisdom of toeing this path of digital order. All over the world, no one is using analogue anymore. It is now the digital economy, digital politics and even digital social order that we are parading globally.”
The governor further noted that the initiative would enhance credibility in party membership numbers. He stated that if APC claims a specific number of registered members, the new system will provide verifiable data to confirm it. He urged the consultants handling the project to execute it efficiently within the set timeframe.
APC National Chairman, Ganduje, also praised President Tinubu for supporting the digital transformation. He noted that the initiative had been planned for a long time but was only now being implemented.
“We are always making history as a party. This was a programme conceived a long time ago but didn’t see the light of the day. So, we are happy that this programme has been approved by our President,” he said.
Ganduje further explained that digital registration would allow the party to properly document its membership. He noted that without an accurate database, planning and decision-making could be difficult. He also pointed out that in legal matters, membership disputes could arise, but with the new e-registration system, retrieving accurate data would be easy.
APC National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKareem Kana, provided further details on the project. He noted that the e-registration process would integrate members’ registration numbers with their National Identity Numbers. This, he said, would allow the party to instantly access member information from anywhere.
Kana explained that the selection of Tunmef Global Limited followed a rigorous process. “The party proposed and it was approved by the governors and the leader of our party, President Bola Tinubu. After a very tedious process of selection, the consultant who has the wherewithal and skill to provide what is required, Tunmef Global Limited, was selected and appointed,” he said.
