APC Pegs Fees For Senatorial Bye-election at N20m, Reps N10m

The All Progressives Congress has fixed N20 million as the fee for those wishing to contest in the senatorial bye-elections coming up in 2025, while aspirants vying for seats in the House of Representatives will need to pay N10 million.

This update was shared in the new timetable and schedule of activities released by the APC national headquarters in Abuja on Monday. The notice was signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu.

According to the released breakdown, anyone aiming for a senatorial ticket must first pay N3 million for the Expression of Interest Form, followed by N17 million for the Nomination Form. For House of Representatives hopefuls, the Expression of Interest Form is N1 million and the Nomination Form costs N9 million.

In the case of the State House of Assembly contests, the party has fixed the total cost at N2 million, which includes N500,000 for the Expression of Interest and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form.

However, the APC has made some exceptions. Women and people living with disabilities will only be asked to pay for the Expression of Interest Form, and will get the Nomination Form free of charge. Youths between the ages of 25 and 40 can benefit from a 50% reduction on the Nomination Form cost.

The statement also notes that all forms can be obtained from the Directorate of Organisation on the 2nd floor of the APC National Headquarters located in Wuse II, Abuja.

To qualify as a delegate during the primaries, members must be financially up to date. They must have paid a minimum of three months’ dues, which is N200 monthly. The delegate form is priced at N5,000.

The schedule begins with a formal notice of election to all state chapters on Monday, June 30, 2025. This will be followed by a revalidation and update of the party membership register, starting on Tuesday, July 1, and ending on Saturday, July 5. The sales of forms will also take place within this same period.

Aspiring candidates must complete and submit their forms by Monday, July 7. Screening of all aspirants will happen on Thursday, July 10.

Primary elections will be held from July 22 to July 26, with final candidate names to be released on the last day of the primaries, Saturday, July 26. Campaigns are scheduled to kick off on the same day and will run until Thursday, August 14.

The bye-elections are scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Argungu noted, “The party is committed to conducting transparent primaries that comply with the Electoral Act.” He also urged all members and aspirants to strictly follow the party’s rules and procedures.

“Only those who have paid their dues for at least a year up to July 2025 and whose names appear on the membership register will be eligible to vote or be voted for,” he added.
