Army to Deploy Over 6,000 New Recruits Across the Country

The Nigerian Army is set to deploy 6,195 newly trained soldiers to various locations across the country. This move is part of efforts to improve the army’s strength and respond more effectively to security challenges nationwide.

These new soldiers are part of the 88 Regular Recruit Intake. They began their military journey on January 13 at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State. Over the past six months, they went through intense training to get them ready for full military duties. Out of the original 6,450 recruits who started, only 6,195 completed the program, while 255 dropped out before finishing.

The Nigerian Army has said these recruits are now ready to join different military operations. Their deployment is seen as a step towards tackling ongoing threats such as terrorism, banditry, and other forms of insecurity that have affected parts of the country.

The passing out parade, which marks the official completion of their training, will be held soon. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, is expected to oversee the event as the reviewing officer.

According to army officials, after the passing out ceremony, the new soldiers will go through additional training to prepare them for specific roles. This extra preparation will help them function better depending on where they are posted. These could include special missions in the North East, North West, or other conflict-prone zones where the army is active.

Their training not only focused on physical strength and combat skills, but also on discipline, teamwork, and the ability to respond quickly in difficult situations. The army notes that the goal is to create a more responsive and effective force that can protect citizens and support national peace efforts.
