Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League have suffered a major setback with key players Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli ruled out due to hamstring injuries. Both players are expected to spend an extended period on the sidelines, raising concerns about the club’s attacking strength for the rest of the season.
Multiple sources indicate that Havertz has sustained a serious injury, with some reports claiming it could keep him out for the remainder of the season. The German international, who has been in excellent form with 15 goals across all competitions, reportedly suffered the injury during Arsenal’s recent warm-weather training camp in Dubai.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Havertz has torn his hamstring and is “set to miss the rest of the season.” However, Arsenal has yet to release an official statement regarding his condition, which has led to speculation among fans and pundits.
Meanwhile, Martinelli is also facing a significant spell on the sidelines. The Brazilian forward was forced off during Arsenal’s EFL Cup semi-final second-leg loss to Newcastle United. Ornstein earlier noted that Martinelli “faces more than a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.”
After the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Martinelli’s injury, saying, “He felt something. I think it was his hamstring, and he wasn’t comfortable to continue, so we have to have an MRI scan tomorrow to see the extent of the injury.”
While reports suggest Havertz’s injury is serious, some rival fans have questioned the timing of the news. There are suggestions that Arsenal could be exaggerating the situation as a strategic move ahead of crucial fixtures.
So far, Arsenal has not made an official statement on Havertz’s injury, leaving room for speculation. This has fueled debate over whether the setback is as bad as reported or if the club is engaging in psychological tactics.
The injuries to Havertz and Martinelli add to Arsenal’s growing list of attacking setbacks. Bukayo Saka is still recovering from a hamstring issue and is not expected to return until at least March. Gabriel Jesus, another key player, is also out after sustaining an ACL injury during Arsenal’s FA Cup clash against Manchester United in January. The club confirmed that Jesus required surgery.
