Atalanta Set €60m Price for Lookman

Italian club Atalanta has placed a €60 million price tag on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as interest from top European teams continues to rise. The Super Eagles star has been in exceptional form, attracting attention from several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Lookman, who was named African Footballer of the Year, has been a key player for Atalanta since his arrival from RB Leipzig in 2022 for €9.35 million. His performances have been crucial for the Serie A side, with 43 goals and 23 assists in 96 matches.

Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale reports that Juventus has already made their first move for the 27-year-old. Meanwhile, Premier League clubs are also keeping a close eye on him, raising the possibility of a return to England.

Lookman’s reputation soared after his outstanding hat-trick in last season’s Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen. His three goals in the final made history, as he became the first player to achieve this feat in the competition’s final match.

Despite Atalanta’s determination to keep him, club president Antonio Percassi previously stated that while they would try to hold on to their star player, they would not force him to stay against his wishes. “After all, we have already replaced Zapata, Muriel, and Gomez,” Percassi told Corriere della Sera last month.

This season, Lookman has maintained his impressive form, scoring 14 goals and providing six assists across all competitions. His performances in the UEFA Champions League have also been notable, including a goal in Atalanta’s 3-2 loss to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. He has also won three Man of the Match awards in the competition’s expanded group stage.

Lookman’s contract with Atalanta runs until June 2026, but with just over a year left after this season, the club may have to consider offers to avoid losing him for free.
