Atletico Madrid Suffer Late Collapse in 2-1 Defeat to Getafe

Atletico Madrid missed a golden chance to go top of La Liga after a shocking 2-1 defeat to Getafe on Sunday. Despite taking the lead late in the game, Diego Simeone’s side crumbled under pressure, dealing a blow to their title hopes.

After a goalless first half, Atletico went ahead in the 75th minute when Alexander Sorloth converted a penalty following a handball by Omar Alderete. However, things took a turn when Angel Correa received a red card in the 87th minute for a reckless challenge.

Getafe took full advantage, equalizing moments later through Mauro Arambarri, who pounced on a flicked-on free kick. With 10 minutes of stoppage time, the hosts pressed for a winner, and Arambarri struck again, redirecting Diego Rico’s shot past Jan Oblak.
