Bala Mohammed: “Politics Should Be About Ideas, Not Personal Attacks” – Bauchi Speaker Slams Dogara

Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has responded to statements made by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, against Governor Bala Mohammed.

Suleiman described Dogara’s remarks as baseless and aimed at discrediting the governor’s leadership.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Suleiman noted that Dogara’s allegations were an attempt to tarnish the image of a leader dedicated to the development of Bauchi State. He praised Governor Bala Mohammed as a statesman whose leadership goes beyond personal interests and political disputes.

Suleiman further noted that Governor Bala’s popularity and governance style earned him the people’s mandate, rather than secret political agreements or personal favors. He dismissed Dogara’s claims of betrayal, stating that they misrepresented the political realities in the state.

Addressing Dogara’s accusation that Governor Bala lacked the financial means to run his 2018 campaign, Suleiman noted that the governor’s success was built on widespread support from the people. He stated, “Unlike politicians who rely solely on personal wealth, Governor Bala Mohammed’s leadership thrives on inclusivity and transparency. His campaign was powered by trust, not the whims of a single individual.”

Suleiman also rejected Dogara’s claim that the governor failed to support other party candidates. He maintained that Governor Bala had always worked toward party unity and collective progress, calling any suggestion to the contrary dishonest. He reaffirmed that the governor remains a strong pillar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) both in Bauchi State and at the national level.

Regarding reports of disagreements between Governor Bala and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Suleiman dismissed them as distractions. He noted that while leadership often comes with differences in opinion, Governor Bala has consistently prioritized cooperation over conflict. According to him, the governor remains committed to unity within the party and across the country.

The Speaker also pointed to Governor Bala’s achievements in various sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, and education. He stated, “Bauchi has seen unprecedented transformation under his watch, and no amount of political mudslinging can erase that fact.”

Suleiman urged politicians to focus on constructive discussions rather than personal attacks. He warned that Dogara’s approach weakens meaningful political conversations, stating, “Politics should be about ideas, not personal attacks.”

He concluded by reaffirming that Governor Bala Mohammed is dedicated to the progress of Bauchi State. “No desperate attempt to rewrite history can overshadow his achievements. His work speaks louder than the words of his detractors,” he said.
