Barcelona Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen Announces End of Seven-Year Marriage

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and his wife, Daniela Jehle, have decided to end their marriage after seven years together. The couple, who share two children, made the announcement through a joint statement shared on social media.

On Thursday, March 6, Daniela took to Instagram stories to confirm the separation, explaining that the decision was made after much thought.

“Hello all, After careful consideration, Dani and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not an easy one, as you can imagine, but we both believe it is the best step for us. Our joint focus is on doing what is best for our children, ensuring they continue to have a loving and stable environment. We remain committed to working together as parents and treating each other with respect and appreciation as we always have.”

She also asked for privacy during this difficult time, saying, “During this personal time, we kindly ask for your understanding and for respecting our privacy – especially that of our children. Thank you. With appreciation, Dani & Marc.”

Shortly after, Ter Stegen, 32, posted the same message on his official Instagram page, confirming their decision to separate.

The news has come as a shock to many fans, especially since the couple welcomed their second child just last year. Ter Stegen and Daniela had always been seen as having a strong relationship since their wedding in 2017, which took place in a private ceremony in Sitges, near Barcelona.

The separation comes at a difficult time for Ter Stegen, who has been dealing with a major injury. The German goalkeeper has been sidelined since September due to a ruptured patella tendon. The injury required surgery, forcing him to miss most of the season.

Despite his struggles both on and off the field, Ter Stegen remains focused on recovery. When asked about a possible return to action before the season ends, he simply said, “We’ll see… I’m working on it.”
