In a bid to promote Quranic education and memorization among its youth, Bauchi State has disbursed N130 million for the 39th edition of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition. Governor Bala Mohammed made this announcement at the opening ceremony held in Jama’are Local Government Area on Saturday.
Representing the governor at the event, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, emphasized the state’s rich history in Qur’anic recitation competitions.
He remarked, “The history of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Nigeria cannot be completed without Bauchi State considering the record performance of the state indigene who excels in various competitions home and abroad.”
He further underscored the government’s commitment to sustaining this tradition to inspire current and future generations.
Governor Mohammed urged participants to view the competition as more than just a contest, highlighting the spiritual and moral rewards tied to the recitation of the Qur’an. He also extended his best wishes to the organizing committee, expressing hope for a smooth and successful event.
The Chairman of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee, Hassan Zango, lauded the governor for his unwavering support over the years. “The committee is working hard to ensure that justice is done to the participants so that the state will continue performing excellently at both national and international levels,” Zango stated.
Participants from all 20 local government areas in the state will compete across six categories. The competition aims to uphold Bauchi’s reputation as a leader in Quranic recitation and inspire a deeper connection to the Qur’an among its youth.
