Bauchi Federal Polytechnic Gets NBTE Approval for Eight New Programmes

The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has received formal approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to start eight additional academic programmes. This development was made public through an official statement released on Wednesday by Rabi’u Wada, the Director of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol at the institution.

Wada noted that this milestone pushes the Polytechnic’s accreditation status to a full 100 percent across its programmes. He described the achievement as a sign of the school’s dedication to educational growth and maintaining high standards.

“This landmark achievement affirmed the academic excellence and institutional quality of the Institution,” the statement reads.

The accreditation letter, which confirmed the NBTE’s decision, was reportedly sent by Fatima Umar, Director of the Polytechnic Programmes Department at the board. Alongside the accreditation, the board also gave approval for the institution to begin running eight brand-new academic courses.

“These further expand our academic portfolio in response to emerging national needs and global trends,” the statement continued.

According to the release, the approved programmes include Higher National Diploma (HND) courses in Crime Management, Cooperative Economics and Management, Taxation, Cybersecurity and Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence, Strategic Communication and Media Studies, and Film and Multimedia Production. In addition to these, a National Diploma (ND) course in Urban and Regional Planning has also been introduced.

While acknowledging the Polytechnic’s efforts in maintaining quality, the NBTE also pointed out some operational areas that need attention. These include improvements in departmental funding, infrastructural upgrades, and acquisition of necessary equipment for the new courses. The institution is reportedly addressing these requirements to meet the board’s standards.
