Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface Sidelined Due to Thigh Injury

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is expected to miss upcoming matches after sustaining a thigh injury during international duty with Nigeria earlier this week.

According to reports from the German outlet BILD, the 23-year-old forward picked up the injury while representing Nigeria in their African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda. The game, held in Uyo on Monday night, ended in a disappointing 2-1 loss for the Super Eagles. Boniface featured prominently, playing 87 minutes before being substituted.

Following the match, the player missed Thursday’s training session with Bayer Leverkusen as a precaution. This setback has raised concerns, especially since Boniface had previously dealt with a lengthy absence last season due to surgery for an adductor injury.

Leverkusen fans are now preparing for the possibility of the Nigerian striker missing the team’s Bundesliga clash against Heidenheim this weekend. His absence could impact the squad, as Boniface has been a key player this season, scoring an impressive eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions for the club.

Boniface’s form had been crucial in Leverkusen’s strong start to the campaign, making this injury a frustrating development for both the club and its supporters. While the severity of the injury is yet to be confirmed, it appears the young forward will require time to recover before returning to action.
