Governor Sule of Nasarawa State has expressed deep sorrow over the recent deadly attacks in Benue State that left several people dead in Yelewata, a community in Guma Local Government Area.
The governor, while speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of new area council administrators and a special adviser in Lafia on Monday, said the news of the killings brought great sadness to him and the people of Nasarawa.
He noted that the killings in Benue, as well as another violent incident in Mokwa, Niger State, were deeply troubling and unacceptable. Sule offered heartfelt prayers for the victims and their families and extended his sympathies to the governors of the affected states.
“I would like to send sincere condolences of the people and government of Nasarawa State over two unfortunate incidents that occurred recently in the North Central geopolitical zone, which led to the loss of lives in Mokwa, Niger State and Yelewata, in Benue State,” he said during his remarks.
He went on to urge Nigerians to pray for peace and to remain united in the face of rising insecurity in the region. In a direct message to Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Sule expressed his support and called for continued courage in leading the people through this difficult time.
“Let us send our sincere condolences to my brother, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace. May God Almighty bring an end to these senseless killings taking place at the borders in Benue,” he said.
