Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has made fresh claims regarding his ongoing legal troubles with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The controversial Nigerian cross-dresser, who has been entangled in a money laundering case, recently disclosed that he paid N5 million to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in an attempt to secure a government pardon.
This revelation was made in a voice recording shared by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday, October 7, 2024. According to the recording, Bobrisky revealed that his godfather had stepped in to assist him financially, providing N5 million for the legal process. The SAN had initially demanded N10 million for his services, but due to Bobrisky’s frozen accounts, he could only pay half of the requested amount.
Bobrisky, in the recording, said, “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather. My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison.’” He further clarified that despite public speculation, he had not been incarcerated but was living in a well-furnished apartment near the prison, arranged by his godfather.
Bobrisky mentioned that his sentence was expected to be completed by July, but with the potential government pardon, he could be released earlier.
He admitted, “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather. My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison.’
“Let the world think that, but you will never.” “So, he was able to talk to the Deputy Controller in Nigeria and he said that as long as Bob is not posting or saying anything, they can put me close to the place so I can always come inside and see people, and welcome my family. Nobody needs to know.”
Some hours after the release of the audio recording, Bobrisky took to Instagram to address the situation with a light-hearted post. He humorously wrote, “Nurse Titi your patient is out again,” adding laughing emojis, which left many of his followers amused.
This latest disclosure comes after earlier claims made by Bobrisky that EFCC operatives demanded and accepted N15 million to drop the charges against him. However, the EFCC has not confirmed these allegations, and no official statement has been made regarding the status of Bobrisky’s case.
