Bobrisky Leaves Nigeria Amidst EFCC Legal Battle, Flaunts Lavish Lifestyle on Social Media

Nigerian social media personality and cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, has reportedly left Nigeria, raising speculation about his intentions following ongoing legal issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Just days after being released by the EFCC, Bobrisky shared videos on his Instagram story hinting at a lavish escape, although he did not disclose his exact destination.

In the series of videos posted early Monday, Bobrisky flaunted his first-class flight ticket, estimated at over N30 million. Speaking confidently about his choice of travel, he declared, “See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl.” The posts showed him preparing to board his flight, underscoring his luxurious lifestyle despite the legal troubles that have cast a shadow over his public image in recent months.

Bobrisky even poked fun at his passport photo, commenting, “That passport disfigured my picture.” His relaxed attitude and humor in the videos came as a surprise to many of his followers, who had recently seen him entangled in a legal confrontation with Nigerian authorities.

The controversy surrounding Bobrisky intensified last week after an incident at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Reports indicate that Bobrisky was barred from boarding an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight on Thursday night while attempting to travel to London. In a social media update shortly after, he alleged that he sustained injuries during the altercation, raising concerns about the incident’s intensity. Following this, the EFCC took him into custody and transported him to their headquarters in Abuja, where he faced interrogation related to allegations of bribing officials to drop charges against him.

These recent legal issues trace back to April 2024, when Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for currency abuse. Originally held at the Kirikiri Correctional Center, sources claim he spent only three weeks there before being relocated to an undisclosed private facility, raising questions about preferential treatment.

The situation escalated in September when a recording, allegedly featuring Bobrisky’s voice, surfaced online. The audio was shared by Martins Otse, a social media influencer known as VeryDarkMan. In the recording, Bobrisky purportedly discusses attempts to bribe EFCC officials with N15 million in an effort to halt the investigation into money laundering allegations. Bobrisky, however, denied these claims during his time in EFCC custody, reportedly stating in a confession that he had not attempted to influence the investigation through bribery.
