The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a large shipment of smuggled arms and ammunition, raising serious concerns about security in the country.
The discovery was made by officers in Lagos, though the exact number and value of the seized weapons have not yet been disclosed.
The operation is described as a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal arms trafficking. Authorities note that the scale of the seizure is alarming, as it suggests that smugglers are becoming more daring in their activities.
Following the seizure, Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has arrived in Lagos to address the media. He is expected to provide more details about the operation at the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone “A” in Ikeja.
