BREAKING: House of Representatives Confirms Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Army Staff

The Nigerian House of Representatives has officially confirmed Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Army Staff. The confirmation took place on Thursday, following a comprehensive screening of the nominee by the Joint Committees on Defence and Army, which occurred the previous day, Wednesday.

After the screening process, the Chairman of the Joint Committees on Defence and Army, Hon. Babajimi Benson, presented the report during a plenary session in the House. The report recommended Oluyede’s confirmation, and it was subsequently approved by the lawmakers.

Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, presided over the plenary where the confirmation was made. The House members agreed to the recommendation without any objections. This marks a significant development in Nigeria’s military leadership, as Oluyede now officially assumes the role of Chief of Army Staff.
