BREAKING: John Azuta-Mbata Elected President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo

Former Senator John Azuta-Mbata has been elected the 13th President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a prominent Igbo socio-cultural organization. The event took place during the group’s executive elections in Enugu on Friday, January 10.

Azuta-Mbata takes over the leadership from Fidelis Chukwu, whose term recently came to an end. The election process, conducted through voice voting, also saw the appointment of 15 other individuals to various executive positions within the organization.

A notable aspect of Azuta-Mbata’s emergence is his origin. Hailing from Rivers State in South-south Nigeria, his election is a historic moment for the organization, symbolizing broader inclusivity within the leadership structure.

Azuta-Mbata brings with him a wealth of experience as a former senator representing the Rivers East constituency from 1999 to 2007.
