BREAKING: Meranda Resigns as Lagos Assembly Speaker

Mojisola Meranda has officially resigned from her position as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

During a special plenary session on Monday, Meranda read out her resignation letter, stating, “This is a notice of resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.”

Meranda took over as Speaker on January 13, 2025, following the removal of Mudashiru Obasa. Reports suggest that Obasa may soon be reinstated to his former position.

Despite her short time in office, lawmakers acknowledged Meranda’s leadership skills and her efforts in maintaining unity within the Assembly.

Along with her resignation, all principal officers who were appointed during her tenure also stepped down from their positions.
