Mojisola Meranda has been re-elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly shortly after stepping down from her position as Speaker.
On Monday afternoon, Meranda formally resigned as Speaker during a plenary session, reading out her resignation letter to the House. Following her resignation, she accepted the nomination for Deputy Speaker, pledging to continue serving Lagos State with dedication.
“This is a notice of resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly,” Meranda announced during the session.
With the Deputy Speaker position now filled, the House is set to decide on the next Speaker. Mudashiru Obasa has been nominated for the role, and lawmakers are expected to make a final decision soon.
