BREAKING: Moon Sighted in Nigeria, Sunday is Eid-el-Fitr, says Sultan of Sokoto

The new moon marking the beginning of Shawwal 1446AH has been sighted in Nigeria, signaling the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

The announcement, made on Saturday night, follows reports of moon sightings from various locations across the country.

“With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stated.
