BREAKING: MTN Shuts Down All Offices Across Nigeria Following Subscribers Outrage

Telecommunications giant MTN has decided to shut down all its offices and service centers across Nigeria. This move comes in response to widespread anger and unrest from its subscribers.

The issue started on Sunday when MTN suspended service for many users. The suspension was due to mismatches between their National Identification Number (NIN) and their SIM registration details. This disruption left many customers without access to their phone services, leading to frustration and anger.

The situation escalated when a viral video circulated on social media. The video showed a group of angry people vandalizing an MTN office in FESTAC Town, Lagos. They broke through a barricade outside the building, showing the depth of their frustration with the network’s decision to block their lines.

The unrest prompted a response from the Lagos State Police. Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the District Police Officer (DPO) in FESTAC and his team had managed to restore order at the scene of the vandalism.

In light of these, MTN announced on Tuesday that all its shops across Nigeria would be closed for the day. The announcement read: “Yello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024.”
