BREAKING: Music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, dies at 72

Renowned Nigerian singer and actress Onyeka Onwenu has passed away at the age of 72. Her sudden death occurred on Tuesday night, shortly after a performance at a birthday celebration for Mrs. Stella Okoli.

Onyeka Onwenu, often referred to as the “Elegant Stallion,” had just finished a performance at the event when she unexpectedly collapsed. Eyewitnesses reported that she was immediately rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, but despite the swift medical response, she could not be revived.

“It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she slumped. She was taken to Reddington Hospital and she couldn’t make it,” an eyewitness stated.

At the time of this report, Onwenu’s family had not yet issued an official statement regarding her death, leaving fans and the entertainment community in shock and mourning.

Onyeka Onwenu’s career, which spanned several decades, had a profound impact on the Nigerian entertainment industry. Her music albums, such as In The Morning Light and Dancing In The Sun, are celebrated for their rich contribution to the cultural tapestry of Nigeria.
