BREAKING: National Grid Collapses Again

The nation has experienced yet another major power disruption as the national electricity grid suffered a collapse on Tuesday afternoon, around 2:09 pm.

This latest incident has left several regions across the country without power, marking a continuation of grid instability that has affected Nigerians in recent months.

The collapse was confirmed by the National Nigeria Grid on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, adding to the growing list of recent outages that have frustrated citizens and impacted businesses.

This week’s grid failure specifically affected nine northern states, causing widespread blackouts and concerns over the stability of the national power supply. The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) issued a notice to customers across several southeastern states, explaining the situation.

“A general system collapse occurred at 13:52 hours today, 5th November 2024. This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the EEDC network,” EEDC informed its customers.

Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, highlighted that power supply to the TCN (Transmission Company of Nigeria) stations has been entirely disrupted, leaving states such as Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Imo without power.

He said, “Consequently, due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Imo States.

“We are on standby awaiting detailed information about the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”
