Ondo State is mourning the loss of its Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi, popularly known as “Tukana,” who passed away on Saturday at an undisclosed hospital. The tragic news comes just weeks after a serious car accident left him hospitalized.

According to reports, the late SSG was involved in a severe road accident on December 15, 2024, along the Ife-Ibadan Road while traveling to Ibadan. Despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries on January 4, 2025.

The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Wale Akinlosotu, confirmed the development in a statement, describing Mr. Oluwatuyi as a remarkable and devoted public servant.

The statement read, “It is with profound sadness that the Government of Ondo State announces the passing of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, Secretary to the State Government, on January 4, 2025.”

The government highlighted Mr. Oluwatuyi’s significant contributions to the state, noting his exceptional dedication to administrative coordination and policy implementation. He previously served in key roles, including Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Commissioner, and twice as SSG.
