President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending two weeks on his annual leave in the United Kingdom and France. He arrived back in the country on Saturday evening, landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after what was described as a working holiday.
The President’s return was announced by one of his aides, Dada Olusegun, through a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Olusegun welcomed the President back home with the statement: “Welcome home Mr President. The eagle has landed.”
During his time abroad, President Tinubu reportedly divided his leave between the United Kingdom and Paris, France. It is unclear what specific activities or engagements took place during his stay, but the leave was described as both personal and work-related.
According to sources within the government, the President took the opportunity to rest while also engaging in some official duties while in Europe.
President Tinubu’s return comes at a time when the country is facing numerous challenges, including a devastating flood crisis in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Shortly after his arrival, reports suggested that the President might visit the flood-affected areas to assess the damage and offer support to victims. Although official details of the visit have not yet been confirmed, his return signals a readiness to address the ongoing issues in the country.
Earlier reports from Maiduguri have revealed that thousands of residents have been displaced by the flooding, with homes, businesses, and farmlands submerged.
Relief efforts are already underway, but the people of Borno State are looking to the federal government for additional assistance. President Tinubu’s expected visit is likely to bring more national attention to the disaster and the need for urgent action.
