Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, is orchestrating a plot to tarnish his reputation in connection with the 2031 presidential race.
El-Rufai made the claim during an interview with Arise TV on Monday. He accused Ribadu of working closely with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to damage his public image.
“This project of destroying Nasir el-Rufai is Nuhu Ribadu’s conception. He is the architect and builder of that project. He is the one working with Uba Sani to implement it. So far, it has been frustrating for them,” El-Rufai said.
The former governor, who previously served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and was a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), believes that his rising political influence is the reason for the alleged attacks.
He suggested that certain powerful figures see him as a threat to their future ambitions and are attempting to weaken his credibility before the 2031 elections.
