Former Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, Abbas Abbas, has officially left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This development comes weeks after his dismissal by Governor Abba Yusuf in a cabinet reshuffle.
Abbas’ defection was announced during a visit to the home of Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, on Friday night.
According to Ismail Mudashir, the senator’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the former commissioner was warmly received by prominent APC leaders, including the Kano State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas.
During the visit, Abbas expressed his commitment to advancing the APC’s goals and ensuring its success in Kano State and beyond. He emphasized his readiness to work tirelessly with other party members to achieve these objectives.
Senator Barau Jibrin reassured the former commissioner of the APC’s dedication to creating a brighter future for Kano residents and Nigerians as a whole.
“The Deputy President of the Senate assured Hon Abbas, a dedicated grassroots mobiliser, of the APC’s unwavering commitment to building a better future for the people of Kano State and all Nigerians.
“While stressing that APC is big enough to accommodate all lovers of the country, he said they will continue to promote the values of good governance, inclusivity, and service to humanity.”
