BREAKING: Suspected Herdsmen Attack Benue Village, Leave One Dead, Another Missing

There is fear and confusion in Tse-Anundu, a village located in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, after a deadly night attack by people believed to be armed Fulani herdsmen on Friday.

According to residents who spoke with local reporters, the attackers arrived late at night when most people had returned to their homes. During the attack, one person was shot and died at the scene, while a woman was taken away by the gunmen. Her whereabouts remain unknown.

The victim who was killed has not been named yet, as family members and local leaders are still trying to confirm the identity.

People who witnessed the attack said that the sound of gunfire caused many to flee their homes in panic. “We ran into the bushes, many of us without shoes or clothes,” one local man said. “Nobody was ready for what happened.”

Several homes were left empty by morning as residents feared the attackers might return. Some have already moved to nearby villages for safety, while others are considering leaving permanently if the situation doesn’t improve.

Community leaders are now calling on the government to take quick action. They are worried that the lack of security will lead to more attacks. “We are tired. Every time, it is the same thing. They come, kill, and leave. Nothing is done,” one elder stated.

So far, no police or state officials have made a public comment about the attack, and security agents have not been seen in the village since the incident.

A local youth leader noted that these types of attacks have become more common and are often ignored. “We need real help, not just promises,” he said. “People are dying.”
