The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is expected to release the results for the May/June 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) today, Monday, 12th August 2024.
Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, the acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, confirmed that Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of the National Office (HNO), will officially announce the release of the results at WAEC’s headquarters in Yaba, Lagos.
This announcement follows the conclusion of the exam 45 days ago, with the results anticipated by thousands of candidates across the country.
In April 2024, Dr. Dangut provided some insight into the scale of the exam, noting that approximately 1.8 million students participated.
Among these candidates, 902,328 were male, representing 49.73% of the total, while 912,016 were female, accounting for 50.27%.
The students were tested in 76 subjects across 197 papers, with the exams being supervised by around 30,000 secondary school teachers.
Dr. Dangut had earlier assured that, in line with WAEC’s recent tradition, the results would be released 45 days after the last exam paper was written.
He also mentioned that certificates for successful candidates would be printed and distributed to schools within 90 days of the results’ release.
Additionally, digital copies of the certificates will be made available through WAEC’s digital certificate platform.
Dangut said: “In tune with our recent tradition, the results of candidates sitting the examination will be released 45 days after the conduct of the last paper, while certificates will be printed and issued to schools in less than 90 days after the release of results.”
