A man identified as Bayo Jeje has reportedly fled his home following the birth of triplets by his wife, Iyanu Ehuwa Jeje, at a private hospital in Igbokoda, located in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident took place on Tuesday, causing considerable confusion at Aribo Hospital, where the delivery occurred. Hospital staff quickly raised concerns about Jeje’s sudden disappearance, leaving his wife and their newborns stranded.
Sources within the hospital indicated that Jeje’s departure followed the announcement by midwives and nurses that his wife had delivered three baby boys. The news, which should have been a cause for celebration, instead turned into a source of distress for Mrs. Jeje, who was left without support.
The events leading up to the incident began early on Tuesday morning at Igbokoda Health Centre, where Mrs. Jeje experienced a delay in receiving medical attention.
A source revealed that there was no doctor available to assist her when she first arrived, causing her condition to worsen. It was only after her health deteriorated that she was transferred to Aribo Hospital, where she successfully gave birth to the triplets.
However, the joy of welcoming three new babies was quickly overshadowed by her husband’s reaction. According to the source, Jeje had been vocal about his financial struggles and seemed overwhelmed by the responsibility of having multiple children.
After hearing the news of the triplets’ arrival, he left the hospital, abandoning his wife with no financial assistance to care for the newborns.
The situation took a turn when a hospital worker, who requested to remain anonymous, revealed that Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing the Ondo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, intervened to help the family.
The senator reportedly instructed one of his aides, Juwon Ade-Aworetan, the coordinator of the Ondo South Advancement and Welfare Consultative Association (OSAWA), to offer immediate financial aid to the family in their time of need.
