Bruno Fernandes Shines as Manchester United Crush Leicester 3-0

Manchester United continued their strong run of form with a dominant 3-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on March 16, 2025. The victory extended United’s unbeaten streak in open play to seven matches, while Leicester’s struggles deepened as they inched closer to relegation.

United took the lead in the 28th minute when Rasmus Hojlund finally broke his long goal drought. The Danish striker had gone 21 games without scoring, but he found the net to put his team in control early on.

Alejandro Garnacho thought he had doubled United’s lead early in the second half, but his goal was ruled out for offside. However, the Argentine forward did not have to wait much longer to get on the scoresheet. A few minutes later, he fired a shot past Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, who should have done better to keep it out.

Bruno Fernandes, who has been in excellent form, sealed the win with a stunning goal from the edge of the box. It was the Portuguese midfielder’s seventh goal in as many games, further proving his importance to Erik ten Hag’s side.

Meanwhile, Leicester’s woes continued under manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Foxes have now lost 13 of their last 14 league games and remain nine points away from safety. Their struggles at home have been particularly concerning, as they became the first Premier League team to go seven consecutive home games without scoring.

In another Premier League match, Tottenham suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Fulham, just days after securing a spot in the Europa League quarter-finals. Ange Postecoglou’s side has struggled to maintain consistency after midweek European fixtures, winning only three of their last ten league matches following such games.

“It’s been a difficult campaign for sure,” said Spurs captain Son Heung-min. “But I feel we’ve lost too many games that we should have got stuff out of, and this was one of those games.”

Rodrigo Muniz gave Fulham the lead in the 78th minute, finishing from an Andreas Pereira pass. Ryan Sessegnon then sealed the win with a brilliant curling effort against his former club.

With this victory, Fulham climbed to eighth place in the league, just four points away from the top four. A top-five finish could be enough to secure a Champions League spot next season, thanks to English clubs’ strong performances in European competitions.

On the other hand, Spurs dropped to 14th place, now ten points away from the top half of the table. Their inconsistent form continues to hurt their chances of European qualification for next season.
