President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian football stars Ademola Lookman, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and the Super Falcons for their outstanding achievements at the 2024 CAF Awards.
The prestigious event, which took place at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, honored their exceptional performances and contributions to African football.
Ademola Lookman, the dynamic Super Eagles forward, was crowned the CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year, a significant milestone in his career. Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was also celebrated for her stellar performances, earning the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Adding to Nigeria’s victories, the Super Falcons were named Women’s National Team of the Year, underscoring their consistent dominance in women’s football across the continent.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the athletes for their determination and dedication, which brought pride and honor to Nigeria. He described them as role models who exemplify the “Nigerian Spirit” of resilience and success.
The President expressed hope that these recognitions would inspire young and upcoming athletes in Nigeria to pursue their dreams with unwavering commitment.
“These athletes embody the essential Nigerian Spirit. They signpost the best in us as a nation. Let no one ever write us off. I am incredibly proud of them,” President Tinubu stated.
He further thanked the winners for representing Nigeria admirably on the global stage, promising that the nation looks forward to even greater accomplishments from them in the future.
