Chairman of Ogbete Main Market Traders Association Shot Dead in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of Stephen Aniago, the chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders Association. Aniago was brutally murdered by unknown gunmen on Saturday night in a disturbing attack that has left the local community in shock.

The incident occurred at Topland, along Amechi Road in Enugu, where Aniago was ambushed by the assailants. According to official reports from the Enugu State Police, the attackers, who were driving a Toyota Corolla, intercepted Aniago’s vehicle and shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene with his blue Toyota Corolla.

The shooting happened late at night, under circumstances that remain unclear, though investigators believe it was a premeditated attack. The gunmen reportedly acted swiftly, executing their deadly plan before quickly escaping the area, leaving behind a trail of fear and sorrow.

Following the shooting, Aniago was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by police officers who arrived at the scene shortly after the attack.

Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Aniago was pronounced dead upon arrival by medical personnel. His body has since been transferred to the morgue, while police continue to gather evidence related to the crime.
