Barcelona emerged victorious in a nail-biting UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, clinching a 3-2 win on Wednesday night in Dortmund, Germany.
The hard-fought victory not only secured their place in the tournament’s knockout stages but also showcased the Spanish side’s resilience in a match marked by rapid counterattacks and high-intensity play.
The game began with both teams testing each other’s defenses. Dortmund, dealing with several injuries, fielded a young lineup under coach Nuri Sahin. Notably, 18-year-old Julien Duranville made his debut, and Gio Reyna started his first game of the season.
Early on, Raphinha, Barcelona’s captain, was a constant threat, narrowly missing a golden opportunity before halftime. Dortmund, however, relied on Duranville’s pace to counter, though Marcel Sabitzer squandered a promising chance in the box.
Barcelona struck first in the second half when Dani Olmo set up Raphinha for a calm finish. Dortmund quickly responded as Serhou Guirassy converted a penalty following a foul by Pau Cubarsi. With momentum shifting back and forth, Ferran Torres, coming on for Robert Lewandowski, scored twice in a stunning 10-minute span.
Despite Guirassy leveling the score again after a defensive lapse, Torres sealed the match five minutes from time with a powerful finish after a clever assist from Lamine Yamal.
