Conte Admits Napoli Struggle Without Osimhen

Napoli manager Antonio Conte has hinted at the possibility of bringing Victor Osimhen back to the club as their struggles in front of goal persist. The Italian side, which once seemed destined for glory, has faced significant setbacks in recent matches, exposing a critical need for more attacking firepower.

Last week proved particularly challenging for the Partenopei. First, they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia after a 3-1 loss to Lazio. Days later, Lazio dealt another blow, narrowly defeating Napoli 1-0 in Serie A. These back-to-back losses not only dented their confidence but also cost them their position at the top of the table, now occupied by Atalanta.

Romelu Lukaku, leading Napoli’s attack, has been underwhelming this season, scoring only five goals in 15 appearances. His performances have drawn criticism from fans and cast doubt on his role as the team’s primary striker.

Conte, addressing the team’s lack of clinical finishing, told TMW, “We need to improve in this respect, we get there but the final step is missing. We are working on it.”

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen, on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray, has been in scintillating form. The Nigerian forward has scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 13 matches, helping his team secure a six-point lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig.

His performances have caught the attention of clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, both reportedly eyeing his €75m release clause.

Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna, however, downplayed transfer speculations, stating, “Victor is owned by Napoli and currently playing for Galatasaray. I think a lot has been said about this, nothing is happening.”
