There is a controversy surrounding the unexpected death of two Nollywood actors in Owerri following a night of food, drinks, and celebration at a private residence.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragic event happened last Friday evening after a day of filming. Some of the movie crew had gathered at a director’s residence to relax and celebrate the end of production. The mood was cheerful as food and alcohol, including rice, wine, and Calypso, were served.
However, the night took a dark turn by early morning when two actors were found lifeless in the sitting room of the house. Two others, who were also at the gathering, were discovered unconscious and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
A man who identified himself as Kaito Karisia and claims to have been present at the scene, questioned the timeline of events provided by the host.
“The host’s story is incoherent. He said he left them in the parlor and went to bed. Around 4 a.m., he woke up to switch over to NEPA, and when he entered the parlor, he found one person dead and others unconscious. He then raised the alarm.”
Police in Imo State have confirmed the incident. Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, noted, “Two people were pronounced dead, while two others are hospitalized. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has directed a pathologist to determine the cause of death. The results will guide the next steps.”
The identities of the deceased actors are yet to be released, as families are still being contacted.
A source close to the investigation noted that several individuals connected to the film crew, including directors, have already been taken in for questioning. The police are also examining the food and drink served at the gathering to determine if contamination or foul play might have occurred.
