Corruption File Against Former Governor Ganduje Stolen, says Kano Govt

The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has revealed that key documents related to corruption charges against the former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, were stolen during an attack on the state high court.

The incident occurred during the recent nationwide protests against hunger, where hoodlums took advantage of the situation to break into the court.

Governor Yusuf made this known after visiting the court to assess the damage caused by the vandals. The governor expressed his disappointment, stating that the vandalism appeared to be a calculated move.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday, the governor suggested that the act was deliberate and aimed at obstructing justice.

“The hired miscreants carted away corruption charges documents on former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who has been facing multiple charges before the state High Court,” the statement read.

Governor Yusuf further lamented that the attack not only disrupted the judicial process but also targeted a historic public building in Kano. He stressed that the incident was an attempt by certain individuals to derail the ongoing legal proceedings against Ganduje, his family, and his aides.

The statement also noted that the miscreants destroyed several parts of the court complex, including the office of the state Chief Judge.

In his remarks, the governor urged the youth in Kano to resist being used by those who seek to create chaos. He encouraged them to focus on acquiring skills that would help them build a better future.

Governor Yusuf also reassured the public that his administration would take immediate steps to repair the damaged building and enhance security measures to ensure that justice is served.
