The Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Amoka Eneji, has imposed a curfew in the region. This decision, which was announced on Tuesday, has raised speculations that it might be linked to the anticipated visit of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who had planned to celebrate Sallah with her constituents.
In a statement personally signed by the chairman, Eneji noted that the curfew was put in place to ensure peace and security in the area. He pointed out that this move follows an existing ban on all political rallies and public gatherings that are not officially approved by the authorities.
“The Okehi LGA Executive Chairman, Hon. Amoka Eneji Monday, has declared a curfew across Okehi Local Government Area. This decision is aimed at maintaining peace and order, following a ban on all political rallies and unregulated public gatherings within the LGA.”
The directive states that the curfew takes effect immediately and restricts movement in certain areas. Residents have been warned against gathering in these restricted zones without permission from the authorities.
“Anyone found gathering or walking around restricted areas without permission from the relevant authorities will be arrested and charged to court. This is in line with the directive of the state government and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police.”
Eneji also noted that public safety is the top priority of the administration, and any action that could disrupt peace in the LGA would not be tolerated. Security agencies have been placed on high alert to ensure compliance with the curfew.
