The Upper Area Court I in Ilorin, Kwara State, has dismissed a criminal complaint filed against Nollywood actress and businesswoman Elizabeth Anjorin, popularly known as Lizzy Anjorin. The case, which involved a legal dispute between Anjorin, Saheed Mosadoluwa (also known as Ibile), and Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited, sparked intense arguments from both sides before the court reached a final decision.
Representing the complainant was A. M. Abdulraheem, while Anjorin was defended by a legal team that included Prof. O. Y. Abdulhamid, I. M. Adedo, Taofeeq Olateju, and Abdullahi. The case took a new turn when the Attorney General intervened, taking over the matter and applying for its dismissal.
Presiding over the case, Judge Yunus Kayode accepted the Attorney General’s request, leading to the termination of both the initial complaint, which was filed on February 26, 2025, and a counter-complaint filed on March 11, 2025.
Delivering the ruling on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the court stated, “Having listened to the submission from the complainant counsel and that of the defendant and particularly the application of the Attorney General to take up this case and pray for termination of the case, on this premise, the direct complaint dated February 24, 2025, and the cross-complaint dated March 11, 2025, are hereby terminated and the defendants are hereby discharged.”
Speaking about the case in an interview on Friday, Anjorin explained that the dispute stemmed from a land issue in Lagos, which led the complainant to file a criminal case against her in Ilorin, Kwara State. She responded by presenting her evidence and filing a counter-suit, which resulted in both parties becoming defendants.
“The case bordered on a land dispute and it all happened in Lagos. But the complainant went ahead to file a criminal suit against me in Ilorin, Kwara State. When I got there, I presented my evidence, cross-sued and both of us became defendants,” Anjorin said.
She further stated that she was summoned on Friday in relation to the case, and she appeared in court. However, when the complainant received his own summon on Tuesday, he failed to show up. She then decided to withdraw the case she had filed against him.
