Crush All Threats to Nigeria’s Unity Without Hesitation – Tinubu Orders Military

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Nigerian military to take bold and decisive steps against any group or individual working to destabilize Nigeria or challenge its territorial integrity.

At the final event of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), which took place at Murtala Square in Kaduna, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the President and delivered a strong message.

Tinubu noted that his administration fully stands behind the military and all other security agencies in their efforts to protect the nation.

“To the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, I say this with absolute clarity: the time to rise is now. You have my full authorization and the trust of the Nigerian people to confront and defeat those who seek to undermine our nation,” Tinubu declared.

He noted that challenges such as insurgency, terrorism, banditry, and separatism pose serious dangers to Nigeria’s unity and must be defeated without delay. He assured the armed forces of full government support, including access to modern arms, useful intelligence, and improved welfare.

“These evils do not discriminate. They destroy churches and mosques alike, and orphan children without asking their tribe or faith,” the President noted. “But under this administration, the welfare and strength of our armed forces remain paramount.”

President Tinubu also paid his respects to fallen military personnel, noting the sacrifices they made to keep Nigeria safe. He described them as heroes whose memories will not be forgotten.

“Many of our finest have fallen in the line of duty. Some now lie in silence beneath the soil of a grateful nation, others carry the wounds of oath as living reminders of sacrifices made in our name. Their blood will not be shed in vain.”

He also praised the families of military personnel, especially members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) and Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA), for their role in keeping the home front strong.

“We have no other country but Nigeria. We must not mortgage our future to division, indifference, or delay. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria and long live our Armed Forces.”

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, also addressed the event, noting the Army’s continued dedication to professionalism and unity since its formation in 1863.

He said the 2025 NADCEL theme shows their focus on building a strong and effective force.

“This year’s NADCEL theme, ‘Developing the Soldier First Concept: Imperative for the Nigerian Army Transformation Drive’, reflects our renewed focus on building a motivated and professional force.”

He also assured Nigerians that the Army, alongside the Navy, Air Force, and other security outfits, is fully prepared to deal with any threats and protect the country.
