Nigerian singer Davido has been reunited with his first daughter, Imade Adeleke, following months of legal tension and emotional drama surrounding her custody.
The reunion, which took place on Wednesday night, marks a major moment in the singer’s life, especially after the public fallout between him and his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu. Davido posted a touching picture with Imade on social media, describing the day as the “Best day of my life,” capturing both his joy and relief.
This moment comes after a long legal fight that began in April 2024. Davido filed a lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court seeking full custody or joint custody of his daughter. He alleged that Sophia was making it difficult for him to spend time with Imade and had repeatedly denied him access to her.
Sophia, in her response, submitted a 102-paragraph counter-affidavit in court, firmly opposing Davido’s request.
She accused the singer of failing in his responsibilities as a father, claiming he only became concerned about their daughter after she ended their intimate relationship. Her detailed response stirred mixed reactions from the public, drawing even more attention to the case.
Amid the legal back-and-forth, Sophia’s uncle, veteran journalist Dele Momodu, shared his thoughts in a long post on Facebook. He noted that the court had decided to move the case toward an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to try to settle the matter out of court. He also asked for privacy and understanding during the process.
