Music producer and Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy, has made a massive contribution to a newly launched Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) by popular social media personality, VeryDarkMan.
The donation, which amounts to ₦100 million, was revealed by VeryDarkMan after initial concerns about the large sum appearing in his account.
VeryDarkMan, whose NGO focuses on community development and improving public schools, first raised the alarm about the money in a video shared on his Instagram page. In the video, he expressed confusion and asked Zenith Bank to investigate the sudden deposit in his account.
His concern was heightened by fears of being set up or accused of illegal activities like money laundering. He said, “@zenithbankplc, please investigate my NGO account. I don’t know what is going on, hope I’m not being set up… I AM NOT INTO MONEY LAUNDERING, I DO NOT DO FRAUD (FOR THE RECORD). Nigerians, bear me witness, I don’t know what’s up with the account.”
At that time, VeryDarkMan had no idea who was behind the generous donation. The amount in his NGO’s account had jumped from ₦70 million to over ₦170 million, and his initial reaction was panic.
“I panicked because I didn’t expect anybody to just send me ₦100 million like that,” he explained in another video released on Thursday. He further explained that he thought it might be a mistake or an attempt to implicate him.
However, after reaching out to several people, VeryDarkMan received a message from Don Jazzy confirming he was the one who made the donation. The music mogul’s message read, “Morning bro. Just saw your post. Na me send ₦100m to support. I believe in what you are doing and trust you to be as transparent as you have always been. We really need that in our country. I wish you all the best with the project and more blessings to you. It’s not easy.”
